Protecting Your Car in Sub Freezing Weather

Sub Zero temperatures can be rough on your car. Prepare ahead of time can help prevent some major problems that can cause some headaches, such as gas lines freezing, freeze your door shut and the engine plays. Here we will cover some minor preventative maintenance that will help to ensure that your car makes it through the cold days and nights.

First I want to look at your petrol and other liquids. If the weather is going to drop below zero, it is best to keep at least a half tank of gas in your car. It is also a good idea to add some isopropyl alcohol dry gas in the tank when the temperature dips below -10 C in order to prevent your lines from freezing. Nothing is more aggravating then frozen fuel in the car. You'll also want to have your coolant checked to make sure it is good to -45 C by water jackets in your engine does not freeze, if you can crack your block or head ruining your motor. You'll also want to make sure you have washer fluid windshield rated to below zero. Many department stores sell liquid which is only good to -10 C, so be sure to read labels. Finally make sure you have winter rated oil in your car, it's usually not a problem these days.

Do not wash the car before the temp drops to prevent your windows and doors from freezing shut. No matter how much your car is dirty, if you wash your car at low temperatures its rubber seals on doors and windows will freeze and your doors or windows will not open. I remember a year ago I tried it and really got stuck in my car, not fun. If for some reason it was warm and rainy day a good idea to delete your door jams and all the seals with dry cloth or chamois to remove any moisture.

and some other things you can do to park your car in the wind as possible, many times the temperature can be -10 but -40 wind chill that could cause things to freeze up. You should also let your car get up to temperature before driving, when the real cold. Try not to rev the engine until the car has reached operating temperature. The oil is thick when cold and should be heated before it can do its job and fully lubricate your engine. It is also a good idea to take your battery and charging system tested to make sure they are up to par.

Some batteries that will start the car at 10 C will not turn over the car at -15 and testing ahead of time will help prevent your car does not start. Also, if you have a dead battery, never frozen battery boost, as they may explode.

I hope these tips helped you in some pretty easy to check before cold weather pogodaka.Automobil that does not start in cold weather is not a pleasant experience and we want to do everything we can to prevent that from happening.
